The thoughts kept coming back as, "I'm a five-year-old, I'm a thirty-seven-year-old, I'm a seventy-year-old, I'm a. . ."

But I knew that this wasn't getting me anywhere. I'm not a psychoanalyst to get deep into figuring out my actual age. Neither was I interested in getting a quick answer by answering a set of questions in a personality test to find out my real age. Yes, I was a differently aged person at different times of the day. While it would be nice to know one's maturity level, there's not much of an advantage in maturity over innocence. The tragic comcal irony is that as a child, one wants to grow upto bigger things but at adulthood, one remeninces over the long-lost careless and fun childhood.

Caught between two worlds, we were still hoping that she might follow us; and she did; a step first, then an amble and finally a gallop. When she came over, she knocked out my husband with her weight. For while we knew her to be a gentle and giant dog, it never occured to her that. My husband had to also undergo a thorough cleansing process with her licking.

A moment of remembrance came into her apparently, for she looked back at the animal shelter that had been her refuge and companion the many years after she was taken there when hit and run on the road as she had wandered away from home.

There was not many things that she remembered of her past owner except the characteristic limp that my husband had; for that was what I can still remember us having.

When everyone hesitated he asked puckishly, "Shall I drive around the town in the new car with uncle?"

No one gave the go ahead except his uncle who always enjoyed a free ride.

So they went without the car casing allowiing the whole town to look at their silly cries of adventure.

They passed through a temple without the priest in it, a school without a watchman at the gates and a tea-stall without the server in it, since all of them had already hopped onto the car that had all the marks of a complete made-in-India seal and manufactured elsewhere technology.

As soon as the comedian Vivek came over onto the stage, the house went into a frenzy. For, the presenter of the awards had called upon another actor Vivek Oberoi, who incidentally shared the same first name. It wasn't long before the comedian realized the faux pas and he was unsure whether to go forward and say something or return back. He decided the latter and turned back only to find the actor on the steps to the dias motioning him to pick up the award for him. So he went to collect the award from the presenter and spoke to the audience, "I have always wondered why I turned into a comedian while he became a hero even though I can look as handsome as him with a touch of make-up and some smart editing. Today, I know the answer." The awards ceremony went up with laughter in no time at all.

I can't remember how many temples I had climbed to find my real self. I would take one good look at something written about some place of worship and the next moment I would go there to see if I can somehow get to solve the problem that I had. Ofcourse, at first, the visits were in the form of prayers. Later, I just hoped that I will somehow get enlightened. Looking back now after more than a decade of such visits, I cannot say that it was a bad idea even if it meant blowing up a lot of money, none of which that I had earned. I had been to many holy places and used to bring some piece of material or photo or book from there. Maybe those visits purified me, if not were enlightening. Those visits inevitably involved the burning up of a lot of bad karma in the literal sense since I could feel my body getting all heated up. It took me out of my comfort-zone. Perhaps that's the best outcome of all those travels to the places of worship.

He thought of closing the window, the breeze was making him too comfortable to concentrate. He needed to be alert to think without getting to be complacent. The sofa too was nice and comfy and this too irked him. No, the pleasure principle was getting on top of him and he had to do somehting about it. So, he thought of shutting down all thoughts of luxury, but the more he wanted to get away from it, the more there seemed to be ease everywhere. Then he suggested to himself, being at ease isn't wrong but being addicted to an easy life is. There was only one solution - engage himself in some hobby that captured all his creative energy - an outlet for the physis inside him.

There was not a single moment when I did not expect the bridge to collapse but it never did. If not suddenly, was it collapsing slowly without my awareness? It was pointless to worry in either case - if it collapsed all of a sudden, I cannot do anything about it and if it was collapsing without my awareness, I cannot do anything in that case either. That leaves only the other option - that the bridge can collapse slowly with my awareness. And in that case, I can do something about it. As the different parts come down, I can try to give support underneath with whatever I get and so keep up the bridge. I can as well hasten the crossing of those over the bridge so that when the bridge falls down, it doesn't take anyone along with it.

"It's very simple. As you grow, your immunity grows too. But so also do the microbes that want to damage your immune system.", said the professor.

"That's no reason to want to take a shot in the arm when you are a big adult.", said the student.

"It so happens that some microbes target specific targets, especially those who have it in their life-stories.", said the professor.

"Do you mean to say that we attract those microbes?", asked another student.

"Ah...yes, to some extent. We create the life-story and also attract the characters into it. We just need to be sure that the malignant ones are left out hanging in the imagination and beneficient ones enter when it comes to actually living out the story."

In the 10 years that my daughter was married for, I was paying dowry twice. My uncle said his conscience would never allow him to do that. But my father just smiled and went away. My father never cared about his image as long as he got his job done. So I took the same mentality. In one sense it was easy to allow jerks their way till they changed their minds. And they always did. My other uncle however, who expected full respect from everyone, brooked no disrespect. When my cousin sister had a similar problem with her in-laws and the atmosphere became heated, my uncle decided that respect was more important than saving the marriage. So it has come to the state of divorce for my cousin-sister. I paid dowry financially the first time and next when I put him into a job that wasn't there in my company.

It was imperative for him that he didn't stop the pursuit of his destiny. And for Fatima. She, who was far off, always hoping against hope that there was still some way of getting together. Together to live a life of sweet tenderness and uncompromised innocence. He knew that but there was a lot of obstacles in the land of Mojo. There were the demons that stood without understanding that his fall is as well their fall. It was as if the rest of the world enjoyed when the American Dollar fell, not realizing that their currency falls too with it. All the same, the world is a constantly changing stream where ideologies and lifestyles changed with the life-current.
