Caught between two worlds, we were still hoping that she might follow us; and she did; a step first, then an amble and finally a gallop. When she came over, she knocked out my husband with her weight. For while we knew her to be a gentle and giant dog, it never occured to her that. My husband had to also undergo a thorough cleansing process with her licking.
A moment of remembrance came into her apparently, for she looked back at the animal shelter that had been her refuge and companion the many years after she was taken there when hit and run on the road as she had wandered away from home.
There was not many things that she remembered of her past owner except the characteristic limp that my husband had; for that was what I can still remember us having.
